In 2006-2007 - using a network of videographers from across the country - Dawstar began working in conjunction with the International Scouting Service in 2006 to create a prospects video archive of more than 30 players including NHL rising stars Patrick Kane, Kyle Turris and Phil Kessel. Dawstar has also done scouting videos for various levels of junior, international and professional hockey including the North Bay Centennials, Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, Atlanta Thrashers, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings and www.thehockeynews.com Video Scouting Success In 2007-2008, Dawstar video scouting focused more on a grass roots level doing scouting videos for seven clients during the season including North Bay Skyhawks Junior ‘A’ goalie Andre Laperriere, North Bay Midget ‘AAA’ Trappers Nick Huard and Patrick Rochefort, and North Bay Midget ‘AA’ Ice Boltz Taylor Davis and Jodie Stevens. But the greatest success story of the season came in the form of goaltender Max Bouffard. The minor midget goaltender from Garson, Ontario, played most of his minor midget year with the Midget ‘AA’ Nickel Centre Flyers.The Bouffard family used the video to help market Max, and in late May the 15-year-old goalie was drafted by the OHL’s Niagara IceDogs. “Not every athlete is lucky enough to be discovered. For everyone else wanting to play at a higher level, self promotion is the only alternative,” said Max Bouffard. “Dawstar Video Scouting is a very effective way of making that introduction for you.
